BTB Australia is currently involved in many projects around the country including numerous infrastructure relocation projects in Victoria, gas pipelines in Tamworth, HDD bores on major interstate gas pipeline projects involving rivers, creeks and environmentally sensitive areas, gas pipeline distribution in Hobart, and a variety of other HDD bores - now becoming day-to-day operations for most utility companies, as HDD becomes a well accepted method of construction.

Some interesting projects recently completed include installing a 150 mm gas pipeline along the Murrumbidgee River, multiple electrical conduit installations at Southern Cross Railway Station for Leightons, multiple Telstra conduit relocations at various locations for the Tullamarine-Calder Interchange Project, HDD bores on the Dubbo to Tamworth gas pipeline, 500 mm HDD bores on the Otway Gas Pipeline, communications and signalling for the Very Fast Train Project throughout country Victoria and various HDD bores for local authorities involving installation of water, sewer, electrical and communications pipes.

At the Tullamarine-Calder project, BTB installed 14 x 110 mm electrical and communications conduits at various locations under the existing freeway for relocation of Telstra assets.

These bores were completed by the Ditch Witch 7020, using a mud motor at depths of 8 metres under the existing freeway in hard bluestone rock formation. Through experience in this type of project installation, all of these major bores were completed with no disruption to freeway traffic flows and to the satisfaction of the client.

BTB also successfully completed a 350 mm bore of 150 mm gas pipeline on the East Link Project, drilling under the Dandenong Creek for this important pipeline relocation.

The Southern Cross Station project presented a challenge in that there was only a narrow time frame to install the 9 x 140 mm electrical conduits under the railway tracks, over a distance of approximately 75 metres. Tough ground conditions of basalt rock made the reeming process a little more difficult but pre-planning, previous experience and equipment used allowed the installation to occur successfully well within the time parameters required.

BTB Australia have been involved in the directional drilling industry for many years now and can bring a wealth of experience , innovation and expertise to any project requiring HDD installation of conduits or pipelines. As the project descriptions above highlight, BTB has completed a diverse range of HDD projects, and along with their civil construction fleet can offer a large range of services related to infrastructure, pipelines and minor civil construction.
