Trenchless Australasia — June 2008 Polymer concrete (PC) products have been used for decades in the engineering, building and chemical industry. PC pipe was first developed in the late-1960s by German-based construction company, Zublin. Dr Gerhard Lang explains the benefits of using PC pipe while implementing Trenchless Technologies such as microtunnelling and pipe jacking.

Fusing at higher interfacial pressures

Trenchless Australasia — June 2008 Discussion continues as to whether the best way to fuse polyethylene (PE) pipe is at an interfacial pressure of 0.15 MPa (21.75 psi) or 0.517MPa (75 psi). Both procedures are widely used and produce good outcomes when destructively tested as well as surviving the test of time. A paper by Ted Striplin of McElroy Manufacturing in the USA sets out to provide some preliminary examples for the benefits of fusing at higher interfacial pressures.

ASTT 2008 Conference “Best Ever”
