Melbourne Water, located in Victoria, has announced Shaun Cox as its new Managing Director, effective 9 March 2011.
The appointment of Mr Cox comes after the announcement by current Managing Director Rob Skinner of his departure after six years.
Mr Cox is currently the Managing Director of South East Water and has over 20 years experience in the water industry, having headed water authorities in both Queensland and Victoria.
Melbourne Water Chairman Eleanor Underwood said “Shaun has a strong background in large-scale water and sewage services, as well as a passion for innovation and sustainability.

Ms Underwood said outgoing Managing Director Mr Skinner “dealt with some of the biggest urban water challenges Melbourne’s ever faced, including our driest period in recorded history.
“Rob’s leadership in times of uncertainty has been outstanding and his commitment to a more sustainable water future for Melbourne will remain central,” Ms Underwood said.
Melbourne Water will host the ASTT’s second networking event for the year, Tunnelling in Melbourne.
To be held from 4–7 pm on 14 April, the event will provide guests with a tunnelling seminar and networking drinks.
With the excellent work being done on the two major tunnelling projects in Melbourne, both the Northern Sewer Project (NSP) and the Melbourne Main Sewer Replacement (MMSR), the seminar will provide a great insight into the tunnelling world of Trenchless Technology.
