In Epsom in Victoria, Coliban Water has recently completed works to repair a sewer main that burst, using boring.
Coliban Water General Manager Operations Neville Pearce said the 175 millimetre diameter trunk main burst on 15 July 2012, blowing a hole in the Bendigo Creek levy bank.
"We began boring under the creek to complete a replacement of the sewer main with a permanent pipe. 200 m in total was replaced which includes a section where a previous failure occurred,” said Mr Pearce.
"We did experience a failure further along the main a few weeks ago. In this instance we believe this section of main has come to end of its useful life."
