Copper corrosion may occur when water is in contact with copper pipes over time, reacting with the metal. There are several forms of copper pipe corrosion, leading to deteriorating water quality or even leaking pipes. It randomly affects some of the copper service pipes, which lead from the water main to the customer’s water meter.

In the past, such service pipes were dug up and replaced with a new pipe. This was expensive and caused inconvenience to the customer, public and environment, especially if the service pipe was under a road or driveway. Recently, InnaTube was introduced as an alternative to replacing the services.

The technology is applied under licence from WAVIN by ‘us’ – Utility Services, the alliance between leading Melbourne water retailer South East Water, and consortium partners Thiess Services and Siemens.

Typically two to three installations per day are carried out, without any hassle or inconvenience to the public and environment.
