SA Water Chief Executive John Ringham said the work is part of SA Water’s proactive mains replacement program.

“SA Water is currently investigating the best way to replace the main and this could include using a lining method for the majority of the pipe which reduces the need to excavate the whole pipe and reduce construction impacts,” Mr Ringham said.

“These types of decisions along with detailed information about construction times will be made throughout the design phase of the project and will be provided to the public when available.

“The majority of our large water pipes are laid under major roads and when work of this nature is undertaken there will be some impacts on the community,” Mr Ringham said.
