Works are continuing work to increase the capacity of Auchenflower’s sewer system, with installation of new sewer pipes by microtunnelling now complete.
Sewer relining and monitoring of the project route is continuing until mid-2012. This work will be less disruptive than the installation of the new sewer pipe, as existing sewer maintenance holes can be used as access points for this work.
As part of its commitment to ensuring the long-term sustainability and efficiency of Brisbane’s water and wastewater infrastructure, Queensland Urban Utilities (QUU) is also upgrading the Bulimba Creek Trunk Sewer.
This project will involve the construction of a 4.5 km sewer line that will run alongside the existing trunk sewer line through MacGregor, Eight Mile Plains, Rochedale and Wishart.Article continues below…
Upgrade works will be carried out to increase the capacity of the trunk sewer main and cater for the future growth of the region.
Construction started in March 2011 and is expected to be completed in 18 months. The new sewer pipes will be installed underground by microtunnelling by DM Henderson.
Both of QUU’s microtunnelling projects are part of a record $A3.2 billion 10-year capital works investment to support growth and maintain water and sewerage services.
