MONDAY: Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA) CEO Chris Champion will address the attendees on asset management and infrastructure financial planning at the free Keynote Breakfast Session.
TUESDAY: Coffs Harbour Manager Special Projects Glenn O’Grady will be presenting on the new Coffs Harbour Water Reclamation Plant. The project makes Coffs Harbour one of the first Australia councils to have trialled, evaluated and developed project alliances to meet legislative requirements and local needs. This presentation will outline how end user interactions are the catalyst for a truly successful project.
Built through the Coffs Infrastructure Alliance, a partnership between the Coffs Harbour City Council and a joint venture between John Holland, Abigroup, GHD, Aquatec Maxcon, CNFA and Serck Controls, the plant is part of the council’s $A250 million Sewerage Strategy.
WEDNESDAY: The third keynote session will address the installation of the National Broadband Network and the opportunities available for contractors in this sector.
TOOLBOX SESSIONS
Complementing the live demonstrations, the panel sessions will allow full delegates to get an entire overview of a single project from the companies and their contractors, with ample opportunity for questions in a workshop environment. There will be one Toolbox Session held per day from 10.00am – 11.30 am.
The toolbox sessions will cover:
- Horizontal directional drilling
- Tunnelling
- Relining.
HDD: 3 Towns sewerage scheme
Sydney Water’s 3 Towns sewerage scheme, part of NSW Government’s Priority Sewerage Program, will be the topic of this horizontal directional drilling panel session. Sydney Water as well as Project Manager John Holland contractors AJ Lucas and Codmah will be represented on the panel. The $A118 million project connects residents and businesses with a reticulated sewerage system, northwest of Sydney – over 116 km of pipeline, including a 760 m drive under the Hawkesbury River. Tunnelling: Melbourne Main Sewer Replacement
The Melbourne Main Sewer Replacement is being built by GHD, Aurecon and John Holland Group for Melbourne Water. This presentation will detail the various challenges of the project and the innovative solutions to replace 2.3 km of existing sewer network using tunnel boring. Representatives from all the companies involved will then take questions from the audience. The project presents a range of technical challenges including crossing the Yarra River, tunnelling through variable geology and temporarily by-pass pumping the city’s main sewer in two locations. Relining: Innovations and challenges
Interflow, together with their client, will discuss various interesting relining projects. This session will teach delegates about the successful relationship between client and contractor as well as the latest innovations in rehabilitation.
SUPER PANEL
The Super Panel will be made up of trenchless experts in all areas including tunnelling, HDD, relining, condition assessment, pipe bursting and more. The experts – including contractors, engineers, consultants, equipment suppliers and representatives from utilities –will engage the audience in a lively discussion of the relative benefits of different techniques offering solutions for the installation and rehabilitation of underground infrastructure.
Gala Dinner and Awards Evening
The Vermeer-sponsored BBQ Dinner and Awards Night will be held on Tuesday 19, 7pm at the Coffs Ex-Services Club. In true country style this year’s dinner will be themed “Country and Western”.
