RDA prides itself on delivering great customer service by keeping the client well informed every step of the way and ensuring that all projects are completed to the highest possible safety standard no matter how big or small the project.
In early May, RDA was awarded the contract to drill under the Coomera River from Sanctuary Cove to Coomera Waters for a network upgrade for Energex. RDA says that this project certainly had its challenges as the bore design was to drill with an arc of approximately 90 degrees which meant that the majority of the drilling was under the river in heavy salt water. Sanctuary Cove is a prestigious estate with multi-million dollar homes in which RDA’s work area was an easement between these homes. RDA approached this job as they do every job – with a commitment to deliver the project to both the client and community with as little disruption as possible.
The project started with determining the depth of the river to design an appropriate bore depth. Once this was completed a bore was plotted to ensure that there was enough cover under the silt on the bottom of the river.
RDA was able to maintain a depth of 10 -12 metres below the river bed while encountering differing ground conditions from marine silt down to a depth of 4metres to solid sandstone.
Article continues below…RDA encountered many challenges throughout the drilling and reaming process in preparing the hole to its final diameter of 450 mm and length of 240 m. All of these challenges were overcome by experience and communication between all parties involved.
RDA was able to successfully deliver this project to its client by 20 June.
