2009 Annual General Meeting
This year’s AGM saw the changing of the guard with our inaugural President Menno Henneveld having to advise Council that due to his current work commitments, he felt he could no longer put in the additional voluntary time required to fulfil this vital role.
Menno has been the ASTT President since the ASTT’s inception following a meeting in Brisbane back in 1991, and he will be missed. In his final report to Council, Menno added that he believed the ASTT was now in a great position and that he looks forward to watching it grow even further into the future. For a review of Mr Henneveld’s contribution to the ASTT and the trenchless industry turn to page 76.
I am pleased to advise that the new President is the Western Australian Councillor, Trevor Gosatti. Mr Gosatti details his plans for the ASTT on page 18. I can also advise that the New Zealand Councillors role moved from Grant Binns to Steve Apeldoorn. Grant had been the New Zealand Councillor since 2001.
Trevor is a Director of Vortex Pipes and Steve is a Director of ProjectMax. Both men have a wealth of experience in the trenchless industry. I know they will both provide the appropriate level of enthusiasm to their new roles and I am sure they will fit in well with the rest of the Executive and its functions. Please refer to the right for a full list of the 2009-10 ASTT councillors.

Update on ASTT Initiatives
Guidelines and Standards for the Trenchless Industry: the ASTT in conjunction with Calibre Projects is continuing on with the development of Trenchless Guidelines, Standards and Specifications in the key areas of HDD, pipe bursting, microtunnelling and pipe jacking. The project was 90 per cent complete as of May 2009.
To date Calibre Projects has developed draft documents for the following:
* Guidelines and Specifications for pipe bursting * Guidelines and Specifications for microtunnelling and pipe jacking * Guidelines and Specifications for HDD.
These documents are currently being reviewed by local experts to ensure they are accurate and meet the requirements of the brief given to the consultants.
It is envisaged that these documents will be ready for final review and comment by all interested members by the end of June 2009. It is also intended that a presentation of the documentation be undertaken at the 8th National ASTT Conference and Exhibition in Melbourne, 20-22 September.
