The performance based contract is for 5 years with additional 2 year option. The arrangement is expected to deliver improved response times and overall improved operational efficiency for Metrowater’s customers and its shareholder.
Metrowater is Auckland City’s water and wastewater utility, supplying over 400,000 customers with 142,000 connections to homes and businesses across an area of 153 square kilometres, using about 50 million cubic meters of healthy drinking water each year, as well as meeting all of the city’s wastewater and stormwater requirements.
The ‘us’ alliance, which involves combined resources, skills and systems from the Siemens and Thiess Consortium and South East Water, also provides construction, operation and maintenance services to South East Water’s supply network which covers an area of around 3,640 square kilometres, supplying 1.3 million people in the southeast of Melbourne.
